Installation & Maintenance Tips
This installation information is a general guide only and may not address your specific site conditions. Always follow local building codes, safety practices, and professional methods. If you are not experienced with this type of work, hire a qualified contractor.
Installation
- Plan and pitch: Verify Gutter pitch (about 1/4" per 10' toward the outlet). Mark with chalk line for new runs.
- Prep the runs: Measure and cut both Gutter runs square to the corner. Test-fit the Inside Miter to confirm bead alignment and proper seating.
- Apply sealant: Place continuous bead of high-quality gutter sealant inside both miter laps where gutter ends will insert.
- Assemble corner: Insert each gutter end into the miter laps ensuring even overlap and proper seating. Leave small 1/8" gap at joints for sealant compression.
- Secure joints: Install Pop Rivets (or #8 x 1/2" Hex Screws) every 2–3" along both seams. Avoid over-tightening.
- Finish seams: Remove excess sealant and tool smooth inside fillet for watertight seal. Maintain clear water flow path.
- Support installation: Place Hidden Hangers within 6" of Miter on each run to maintain proper support and pitch.
- Test system: Check corner alignment and level reveals. Water-test to verify leak-free joints and proper drainage flow.
Maintenance
- Check seams: Inspect corner joints annually and after severe weather. Reseal any cracked or separated areas.
- Hardware inspection: Replace loose or corroded fasteners with aluminum or stainless steel alternatives.
- Clear debris: Remove accumulated material at inside corner to prevent water backup and joint stress.
- Support check: Ensure adjacent hangers remain secure and gutter maintains proper slope.

Inside K-Style Box Miter vs Other Options
Inside Box Miter vs Other Options
- Box Miter: Quicker installation, cleaner finish, dual sealing surfaces for better leak protection, consistent factory precision, reduced field work, predictable sealing performance.
- Strip Miter: Lower material cost but more exposed joints and higher labor; potential for more leak points.
- Hand Miter: Custom fabrication for non-standard angles; requires advanced skills and more installation time.
Best Choice: Select the 5-Inch K-Style Inside Box Miter for standard 90 degree inside corners when you need reliable performance, quick installation, and color-matched aesthetics. Use Hand Miters for custom angles or unique architectural details; consider Strip Miters for basic repair applications.
